My house in Hawaii. You can rent it.
Four bedrooms, a private pool, ocean and mountain views, mango trees, and six gated acres of total quiet. It is called Kualapa, it is a five minute drive from Haleiwa, and when my family is not in it, somebody should be.

This is a monthly rental. The minimum stay is 30 nights, which is deliberate. It is a house for people who want to actually live on the North Shore for a while, not for a long weekend.
Hosting has been a ride
I have rented this place out for a while now, and the people have mostly been wonderful.
Mostly.
- One group left lines of coke on the counter and broke a toilet. I still have questions.
- Another let a bird live in the house for a few days. Flying around. Pooping on everything.
- Somebody brought in bed bugs.
Great house. Mixed sample of humanity.
So I am trying something different. If you are a normal human who wants to spend a month on the North Shore, I will rent it to you directly and pass the Airbnb fees back to you. They are not small.
That is the whole pitch. Book it on Airbnb if that is easier, and it genuinely is easier, because the calendar and the reviews and the payment protection all live there.
If you would rather go direct, email me and we will both come out ahead. I will send you a real agreement and take payment through Stripe, so your card details never touch anything of mine. You can look me up. I am not hard to find, and I am not going anywhere.
What you actually get
The great room
Vaulted wood-beam ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass, a pool table, and the Pacific sitting right there in the windows. This is the room people send photos of.
Four bedrooms
Two kings, a queen, and bunk beds. The primary suite has its own bathroom and a soaking tub that looks out over the property.
The pool
Private, surrounded by Norfolk pines and mountains, pointed west. Sunsets happen in it most nights.
A real office
A private loft with a monitor, an ergonomic chair, a printer, high-speed wifi, and hardwired ethernet. I have worked from it. It is not a desk in a corner.
Six gated acres
A 0.37-mile trail around the perimeter, mango trees, and enough distance that you stop hearing anything. Two world-class surf breaks are within a mile.
The unglamorous stuff
Nine individually controlled A/C units, solar-heated hot water, and a reverse osmosis filter. Three full bathrooms, so nobody is negotiating over a shower.

“Staying at the North Shore Ranch House was a dream. The home, location and especially the host, were perfect. The views were breathtaking from the huge windows inside the main room and anywhere you look to the outside. The photos match the home however they don’t do it justice. If you are looking for a secluded space that is close to the ocean, this is it.”

“The support we received already before check in regarding special needs was so very supportive, clear communicated and generous. We look very much forward to coming again. Great place to stay several months and everyday beyond worth the long travels and expenses.”

Where it is
Waialua, on the North Shore, inside a gated community with its own second gate. It is the quiet end of the island. Haleiwa town is five minutes away, which is where the restaurants and the shave ice and the surf shops are. Pipeline, Sunset Beach, and Waimea Bay are all a short drive up the coast. Ka’ena Point is out the other direction if you want to see almost nobody.
Two surf breaks sit within a mile of the front gate. It is roughly an hour from the Honolulu airport, and it feels like a different island from Waikiki.
On accessibility
Kualapa is one of the few genuinely wheelchair-accessible rentals on Oahu. The main level is step-free through every bedroom, bathroom, and living area, with accessible parking, a lit and ramped path to a 32-inch front entrance, 32-inch doorways along the route, and a low-threshold shower with a chair and grab bars.
A fully curbless roll-in shower and a pool lift are still on the list, and I would rather say that than let you find out on arrival. If a specific measurement matters for your stay, ask me first and I will give you a straight answer.
Six acres. One house.
Nobody around.
